In 2007 the Piling Federation agreed to implement an Incident Reporting Scheme through its members to determine the nature of incidents resulting in lost time accidents to personnel in the industry. This was inspired by a similar scheme which had been operating in the European Federation of Foundation Contractors ( EFFC) since 1998.
The aim of the reporting scheme was to try to determine in a very simplistic way how many incidents occur in our industry what the effects of those incidents are and to highlight to members how they may be prevented.
The scheme has now been in operation for a number of years. Reports have been prepared for each of the years and an overall report for the period 2007 – 2010. Please click on the PDF icons below to download Incident Reporting Results.
The system adopted by the Federation was based deliberately using similar formats to the EFFC so that a direct comparison could be made. The EFFC have prepared an analysis but based on a much larger data base through 13 countries. These analyses are also attached for comparison.
It will be noted that the EFFC have commended the Australian Federation for their initiative in collating information based on ALL incidents – not just incidents resulting in lost time.
Your support for this initiative is appreciated and any feedback will be welcomed.
